American Dreams vs. SNK Crushers

While Baseball Stars for the NES is best known for allowing players to build up their teams by winning games and earning money, its true value to society is teaching us “What is a wren?” and “When isn’t it?”

At the Make Team screen, press Down, Right, Left, Down, Down, Right, Up, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up. The cursor will end up on Veterans. Press A. The game will ask “What is a wren?” Change the letters to say “A bird.” (include the period.) Choose END and press A. The game will ask “When isn’t it?” Change the letters to say “When it is.” (include the period.) THIS VIDEO GETS THIS PART WRONG, sadly. The “it is.” part should be on the second line. Otherwise, the powerup part won’t work. Refer to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRWbuq0rpvM to see this correctly.

A similar trick to create a male, but stronger than usual team, is to press Down, Right, Left, Down, Down, Right, Up and select Balanced Team. This version only asks “When isn’t it?”

Ok. Here goes:

Ive never seen this posted anywhere so I thought id be the one to post it.
I spent one looong summer playing this game and putting together a badas$ team. I used the couple cheat codes and made a bunch of teams, traded the players back and forth but I’d always get to the point where I needed more money to upgrade my players.

One day I figured out a glitch…

So in order to get money you have to play League Play. You use one of the teams you created and play against computer controlled teams. If you win you get big bucks if you play agains the American Dreams or the Tokyo team.

So you need a couple decent pitchers and a decent hitter or two.

Your plan is this:

1. When at bat, score as many runs as possible
2. When pitching, keep them to as few runs as possible (duh)

Number 1 is up to you but number 2 Ive got some help

Here is how you get an easy 3 outs

1. walk or bean the batter
2. switch to the pitcher view, the mode you use when you are trying to pick somebody off
3. throw the ball to second base
4. take your second baseman and run directly down towards home plate
5. as soon as the second baseman starts to run down, hold up and throw the ball to second base
6. the runner on first will start running towards second base
7. move your center fielder to the right and you will catch the ball
8 throw to second base (hold up or youll throw to home) and you will beat the runner for an easy out
9. repeat every inning

i did this all summer long and made a truckload of money and put together such a strong team that i could beat the american dreams without cheating. My pitcher could hit homers each time at bat lol

then the cartridge got reset and i wasnt about to start all over. i even named the team the “toons” and each player was a cartoon character lol. Bugs was the pitcher.

So, because i never could find a game genie code or a money cheat, this was the best i could come up with. Hopefully it helps somebody
